Elegant W&S Blackinton fine silver plate footed serving tray or salver with delicate engraving and a Chippendale style rim. No dings, dents or other damage to note, though the silver finish on the top is quite worn. This fine silverplate footed oval serving tray measures 14-3/8" x 11-1/2", is 1-1/2" tall and weighs a pound 13 ounces. Touchmarked on the backside with W & S Blackinton since 1865 and Fine Silverplate.
W. & S. Blackinton was founded in 1865 in Meriden, Connecticut by the Blackinton brothers who specialized in gold jewelry. It was purchased by the Ellmore Silver Co. in 1938. It was then purchased by the Raimond Silver Mfg. Co in 1966 and moved to Chelsea, Massachusetts.
