Vintage silverplate EPNS (electroplated nickel silver) collectible souvenir spoon with a colorful  enamel shield featuring KANGAROO PAW, W. Australia with a decorated spoon handle by PITCHER.  (c. 1960's)  Excellent condition.

Kangaroo paw is a common name for a number of species, in two genera of the family Haemodoraceae, that are endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. These perennial plants are noted for their unique bird attracting flowers. The tubular flowers are coated with dense hairs and open at the apex with six claw-like structures: from this paw formation the common name "Kangaroo Paw" is derived.

This vintage silverplate EPNS collectible souvenir spoon of Kangaroo Paw measures 4.5" in length, weighs .5 ounces and is marked on the back of the spoon handle with PITCHER E.P.N.S. A1 and MELS.  A1 denotes the highest quality of the manufacturer (usually the thickness of the plating).
