This lovely vintage floral teacup & saucer set by Noritake is in good condition with only very slight wear of the gold trim along the top rim of the tea cup and a bit on the handle.
Vintage Noritake china like this lovely cup & saucer set is marked with one of the more than 400 different marks used by the Noritake Company in Japan. Noritake was formally known as "Nippon Toki Kasha Company" and had subcontracted the manufacture of literally hundreds on thousands of china items to several independent companies. The vast majority of these wares were made in the European style for export to the US and other western-world markets.
The initials H B most likely refers to a department store or retailer in the US or Europe. This cup & saucer set dates between1950 - 1960's.
The floral pattern is on a pale yellow band, with a thin band of black on the top and bottom of the yellow band. The flowers are blue, pink and violet, and orange. A hand-painted gold band is at the teacup rim, along the outside of the teacup handle, and along the outer edge of the saucer. The deep swirl is noted in the bottom half of the teacup and the saucer.
The teacup measures 2.75" high, 3.25" in diameter and is marked on the bottom as shown, with an eagle facing left within a stag head with the letters H and B MADE IN JAPAN within a wreath of leaves with what looks to be an angel at the base of the wreath. The matching saucer measures 5.5" in diameter. No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs to note.
