Rarely used estate stainless steel silver colored mechanical tea infuser with clam shell (or snap) mechanism.  A tea infuser is a device made to facilitate the separation of tea leaves from the hot water they are brewed in.  Spring loaded and made of stainless steel.

To properly use a tea infuser spoon, fill only one half of the infuser to allow the loose tea leaves to expand, which allows the leaves to fully release their flavor.   Loose tea is placed inside the clam shell infuser spoon basket and placed in cup or mug to steep.

This vintage tea infuser spoon measures 6.125" in length, the ovoid shape infuser 2" x 1.5", weighs 0.8 ounces and is marked HONG KONG.
