Antique quadruple silverplate floral repousse tea complete set by Barbour Bros. Silver Co. includes a covered sugar bowl, a creamer and a waste bowl.
(c. late 1800's)
This late 1800's quadruple silverplate tea set is stunning - a true representation of Victorian silver. The covered silver sugar bowl retains all of its original silverplate, except for the decorative floral knob, and measures 7" between the repousse handles, approximately 5" in diameter, 6.25" high and weighs 1 pound, 7 ounces. The inside of this lidded sugar bowl shows only light surface scratches to the inside bottom. There are no dents, dings but the floral finial is slightly bent to one side.
The matching quadruple silverplate creamer is also in excellent condition, with only light wear along the inside tip of the spout and the top of the handle, and light surface scratches to the inside bottom. Just like the covered sugar bow, the floral repousse work surrounds this entire creamer, including the spout! The silver creamer measures 6" from the tip of the spout to the tip of the handle, stands 4.75" high and weighs 13.2 ounces.
The matching quadruple silverplate waste bowl, also in full floral repousse, shows the most silverplate wear on the outside, and discoloration and silverplate wear to the inside. This large silver waste bowl measures approximately 5" in diameter, 3.5" high and weighs 14.3 ounces.
Each of these antique quadruple silverplate holloware tea pieces is touchmarked on the base with BARBOUR BROS. Co., QUADRUPLE SILVER, and the pattern number 989. You can read more about the history of Barbour Bros. Silver from our Silver Manufacturers pages.
