Large antique MERIDEN B. Quadruple Silverplate Covered Sugar Bowl and Creamer Set with leaf and fern etched designs. This large and heavy set consists of a creamer, which measures 5.25" high, 5" from tip of spout to tip of handle, and weighs 10.4 ounces with a gold lining. The quadruple silverplate creamer shows little if any use on the inside, with only minor wear marks on handle and a few tiny wear scratches on the outside of the body. The leaf and fern design, on both sides, is very detailed.
The matching silverplate covered sugar bowl has two handles, removable lid with a unique knob design, and it measures 7" from handle to handle, stands 6.5" high and weighs 1 pound, 4.9 ounces. The sugar bowl shows the most wear on the handles, and a moderate amount of speckled scratches along the lower 1/4. The lid shows a few use marks with on 'slice' of the silverplate measuring 1/8" long on the top.
Neither holloware piece has any bumps, dents pitting or other damage. This is a large set, which would be perfect for a large gathering of family and friends.
Both quadruple silverplate holloware pieces are touchmarked on the bottom as follows: MERIDEN B. COMPANY with the Meriden logo of the scales, QUADRUPLE PLATE, and the pattern number "1800". This may have been a custom-made set. You can read more about the history of the Meriden Silver Company from our Silver Manufacturers pages.
