Stately Victorian footed quadruple silver plate sugar bowl by EUREKA SILVER PLATE with extremely ornate decorative details with a deep rich blue-black anodized finish. (c. 1890s)
Original quadruple silver plate has never been re-silvered and still retains its factory applied anodized dark patina which is almost a silvery/blue/black.. Beautiful and desirable highly polished silver patina. This is NOT tarnish, but the original anodized factory-applied finish.
Elegant shaped sugar bowl, with hand-tooled engraved floral and leaf design on both the front and back. Somewhat lobed in shape. Very minor wear to the dark silverplate patina on small areas around the outside of this sugar bowl. Lovely square scalloped footed base.
The applied ornate Victorian silverplate handles features Victorian scrolls and a large acanthus leaf along the top of the handles. An ornate scrolled rim has been applied to the entire lip of this sugar bowl. Very minor spots of discoloration on the bottom of the sugar bowl.
This silver plate Eureka silverplate sugar bowl measures 4-1/2" at the highest, 6" from tip to tip of the handles, 3" diameter at the top, 4" at the body and weighs 9-1/2 ounces. Overall, this is an excellent example of Victorian silver, with its original dark anodized patina and one more than worthy for your silver collection.
Touchmark on the base reads EUREKA SILVER PLATE CO. with the logo of three stars, QUADRUPLE PLATE and the pattern number 1008. You can learn more about the history of Eureka Silver from our Silver Manufacturers pages.
