Late 1900's Victorian style footed VAN BERGH Quadruple Silver plate casserole baking dish with factory applied oxidized finish and bright silverplate lid with oak leaves and berries. Original silverplate finish on all three parts of this Victorian baking dish.
A factory oxidized finish was applied to the outside footed base and to the decorative trim of the removable rim liner. The insides of the baking serving dish and other pieces are all polished silverplate in a mirrored finish.
The silverplate baking dish rim features very ornate oak leaves and berries with vines forming a decorative border. The oxidized decorative trim on the silverplate insert features scrolls and florals.
The two handles on the base of this quadruple silver plate baking dish are quite ornate and are attached to this footed serving dish with almost a flower motif. The silverplated handle on the top of this baking serving dish also features decorative scroll work, and the four feet of the base are Victorian in their ornamentation.
There is a moderate amount of silver plate loss on the lid as shown in the photo left. There is also a small area within the base itself which indicates a bit of silverplate loss. The lid has one small >1/16" dimple and the bottom of the base has been slightly pushed down on one side causing two of the feet to slightly invert back into the bowl.
The entire quadruple silver plate baking serving dish sits entirely flat on its feet with no wobble. Overall, it's a nice antique silver plate piece of holloware with many good years of use left.
The baking serving dish measures 11-1/2" from handle to handle, 9-1/2" in diameter, 7" high to the top of the handle and weighs 2-1/2 pounds. Touch marked on base with THE VAN BERGH S.P. CO.
