Pretty vintage silver plate set of Middletown Plate Co. Silver Plate consisting of a cream creamer and a sugar bowl. This silverplate set has been well used, but is still in good condition. (c. 1864-1899) Twelve round-top panel design along the sides of both the creamer and sugar bowl lend a nice unique decorative accent to this silverplate set.
The silver plate cream creamer has very minor silverplate wear along the sides, on the outside edge of the handle and along the lip of the creamer. A few tiny surface nicks indicates that this set received some use. One tiny >1/16" dent on a rib between two of the panels is the only damage noted.
The two-handled silverplate open sugar bowl has minimal silver plate wear along the sides, and outside edge of the handles, and a minor amount of silver plate pitting along the outside neck. The rim is slightly out of shape.
The elegant handles are attached firmly and lend an additional elegant look and feel to this antique silverplate set. Both the silverplate creamer and silverplate sugar bowl are moderately discolored from use on the inside.
Both the silverplate creamer and silver plate sugar bowl are touch marked on the bases with THE MIDDLETOWN PLACE CO., the Middletown Plate Logo and the pattern number 658. Neither of these silverplate items have ever been re-silvered, which indicates the quality of the initial silver plate. You can read more about the history of the Middletown Plate Company here.
