Victorian Bone China demitasse tea cup is made of a very thin egg-shell-like bone china and dates back to the early 1940's. (Pre-WWII) Featured on the front side of the tea cup is a lovely portrait of an 18th century courting lady and gentleman in a garden setting.
The portrait on the front of the bone china demitasse tea cup is very crisp with vibrant colors done with exquisite detail. The entire outside of the bone china demitasse cup is bathed in a multitude of soft muted iridescent and opalescent yellow, blue and pink rainbow colors.
Possibly 22 Karat Gold trim around the top lip of the demitasse tea cup, along the top edge of the handle and on the logo on the base.
With it's beautifully detailed Victorian portrait, fantastic coloring and excellent condition, this Pre-WWII bone china demitasse cup is certain to be an elegant addition to your china collection!
The Victorian bone china demitasse cup is in MINT condition with no chips, cracks or crazing noted. The inside of the demitasse cup look as if it were never used.
It measures 2-1/2" diameter at the top, 1-7/8" on the base and is 3-1/4" measured from the tip of the handle to the far rim of the demitasse cup rim, and stands 2-1/8" high. The demitasse cup is backstamped on the base with a metallic gold crown and the word "JAPAN". The hallmark seems to be applied under the glaze of the bone china.
