Vintage 1950's men's tie bar clasp with textured silver plated design accented with black enamel with a faux pearl on the end. (c. 1950s) Good condition with some wear to the silverplating on the outside edge (pearl to the right). Alligator tooth closure, excellent working condition. The faux pearl is held in place within a black recess with six prongs. (ignore the yellowed areas on this tie clasp - it's nothing more than a reflection.)
This vintage men's tie bar clasp with pearl measures 1-3/4" in length and 1/4" wide. Unmarked as to maker.
A tie bar (also tie slide, tie clip, or tie clasp) is a neckwear accessory that clips a tie to the underlying shirt front, preventing it from swinging and ensuring the tie hangs straight, resulting in a neat, uniform appearance. Rising to prominence in the 1920s, the tie bar gradually replaced the tie pin. Tie bars are usually made of metal and often have minor decorative patterns. A must have for men's accessories and men's jewelry.
