Vintage silver plate round trinket jewelry or ring box with decorative beaded detail around the lid and a high polished silver finish with a deep red burgundy velvet interior. Lightly engraved on the lid with the Greek sign of ϕM (Phi Mu). Excellent condition with no dings, dents or silverplate wear or loss. A small discolored area in the anti-tarnish finish is noted on the lid on the "M" sign as shown in the photos.
Phi Mu was founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia and is the second oldest sorority in the nation. We have provided social opportunities, a support network, and personal enrichment resources to members for over 150 years. In that time over 175,000 Phi Mu women have been vibrant members of college campuses and we have chartered over 228 chapters.
This vintage silver plate round trinket jewelry or ring box measures 2.25" in diameter, 1.5" tall, weighs 4 ounces and is unmarked as to maker. As shallow (light) as the engraving is, it would be very easy for a jeweler to buff out the engraving and replace it with something else, or leave it plain.
