Vintage silverplate souvenir collectible spoon featuring a figural Queen's Carriage celebrating Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee and made by Exquisite Jewellery Ltd of England. The silverplate spoon bowl is deeply engraved with "Silver Jubilee 1952 - 1977". (c. 1977) Very good condition.
The Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II marked the 25th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and other Commonwealth realms. It was celebrated with large-scale parties and parades throughout the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth throughout 1977, culminating in June with the official "Jubilee Days," held to coincide with the Queen's Official Birthday.
The anniversary date itself was commemorated in church services across the land on 6 February 1977, and continued throughout the month. In March, preparations started for large parties in every major city of the United Kingdom, as well as for smaller ones for countless individual streets throughout the country.
This unique figural silverplate collectible souvenir spoon measures 3-7/8" in length, weighs .4 ounces and is touchmarked on the back of the spoon handle with EXQUISITE E.J.LTD. Very good condition with only light roughness to the top half of the bowl. Exquisite Jewellery Ltd was in business between 1964 and 1983.
