Vintage 1978 Silverplate Mother's Day Bell by Danbury Mint, featuring a figural spray of tulips on the handle.  Excellent condition with no silver wear, no scratches and no dents.  Marked on the inside of the bell with MOTHER'S DAY 1978, the paper registration label indicating "F892" and the Danbury Mint touchmark of a "D" over "M".  This is the fourth in the series.  The original bell clapper is attached, and the bell makes a sweet, light metallic sound.

These collectible silver plated bells were advertised as limited editions, available only until Mother's Day and only directly from the Danbury Mint.  Not available in stores.  Each fine silver-covered bell is hallmarked, serially numbered and registered.  Extraordinary collector's item.  Original priced at $23.50

The Danbury Mint, is a division of MBI, Inc. that markets a variety of collectibles. Danbury Mint historically marketed high quality medals and ingots produced by others exclusively for them.  The company also sold numerous other collectible offering including bells and other items.
The Danbury Mint was founded in Westport, Connecticut by Ralph Glendinning and Ted Stanley in 1969, as a subsidiary of Glendinning Companies.  The Danbury Mint has since gone on to capture the legacy of landmark events, products and people though collectible bells, figurines, collector's plates, dolls, and die-cast cars.

Danbury's first sister division was formed in 1970 under the name Postal Commemorative Society, recently changed to PCS Stamps & Coins.  In 1973, both divisions were incorporated as MBI.  In 1975 Easton Press was formed as MBI's third division, and MBI was spun off from Glendinning Companies as a separate company.

According to former employees, the MBI name was created by reversing the letters in IBM and later applying a meaning to each letter. Every product the company produced should have "Meaning," "Beauty," & "Integrity."

This collectible vintage silverplate bell measures 3/75" tall, 1-7/8" in diameter and weighs 1.5 ounces.
