Unusual vintage EBELING & REUSS collectible glass bell with a clear glass bell and a frosted figural woman as the handle and was made in France. Excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or other damage to note.
A bit of background on Ebeling & Reuss, (E&R Golden Crown) also known as "E&R".- Ebeling & Reuss was an importer of high quality giftware. The firm operated from Philadelphia around 1886 and later relocated to Devon, Pennsylvania where it was active until the late 1990's. The company's import volume peaked in the late 1940's to early 1950's.
The firm imported its wares from many factories, including German firms of Fuerstenberg Porcelain from Fuerstenberg, Goebel Porcelain from Redental, Heinrich & Company from Selb, and Carl Schumann Porcelain from Bavaria. It also imported goods from Ditmar-Urbach in Teplitz, Czechoslovakia and Wien Keramos of Austria. E&R did not manufacture their goods and figurines, rather they commissioned and imported them. Ebeling & Reuss was sold to the Strathmore Corp. of Pennsylvania in April 2002.
This stunning vintage French figural glass bell measures 6.75" tall, 3.25" in diameter (the figural woman handle measures 3.75" tall) and weighs 7.8 ounces. The original foil sticker remains and states: GOLDEN CROWN with a crown logo, E & R and FRANCE.
