An outstanding 7-piece antique quadruple silverplate tea & coffee set (teapot, coffee pot, covered sugar bowl, creamer, pitcher, spooner - spoon bowl - and a waste or slop bowl) with ornate fruit repousse, engraving and chasing by Derby Silver Co. (c. 1873 - 1898) Never monogrammed!
Each of these antique silverplate holloware tea set items is deeply reeded at the neck, the full bodies have the most detailed and realistic lush and extensive repousse fruit (plums?) and leaves on one side, the other side has an engraved and chased cartouche with leafy ferns and punched flowers.
Below this repousse work is a roped border which leads into semi-lobed basket-weave pattern. Each silverplate tea set item has a plain, high polished band pedestal at the bottom. Lids are somewhat domed and feature an acorn finial. Handles on both the teapot and coffee pot have aged-white insulators - perhaps ivory. The overall finish is a bright, high-polished silver finish. Floral rosettes are on the top of each handle of holloware that has a hinged lid, which protects the handle from any damage the finial may cause to the handle.
The antique quadruple silverplate teapot (tea pot) is also in nearly mint condition, with only a small amount of silverplate wear noted to the on the cartouche, two areas along the body on that same side, and a small strip along the teapot spout. Exceptionally clean on the inside with the original linen strainer, which sits nicely on a built-in ledge. The sturdy handle has a floral rosette where the finial rests when the lid is opened. Absolutely no dents or dings. A tiny steam vent is located just below the finial on the back side of the lid. This antique quadruple silver plate teapot (tea pot) measures 7" high to the tip of the final, 11" from the tip of the spout to the tip of the handle, measures approximately 6" in diameter and weighs 2 pounds, .03 ounces.
The antique quadruple silverplate coffee pot is in nearly perfect condition! There is no silverplate wear or loss on the exterior, exceptionally clean on the inside with just one area along the side of discoloration. A very tiny steam vent hole is located just to the rear of the acorn finial. The sturdy handle has a floral rosette where the finial rests when the lid is opened. Absolutely no dents or dings. The top of the coffee spout does show light nicks. This antique quadruple silver plate coffee pot measures 6.5" high to the tip of the finial, 10.5" from the tip of the spout to the tip of the handle, measures approximately 6.5" in diameter and weighs 1 pound, 14.9 ounces.
The matching antique quadruple silverplate covered sugar bowl is also in extremely good condition - no dings or dents. A minor amount of silverplate wear is noted along the outside of the handles, and within the cartouche and a small amount along the outside body of the sugar bowl just above the cartouche. A tiny amount of silverplate wear is also noted on the finial. As with the other holloware items, this sugar bowl is exceptional clean on the inside. This antique quadruple silver plate covered sugar bowl measures 9" between the handles, stands 6" tall to the top of the final, measures approximately 6" in diameter and weighs 1 pound, 8.6 ounces.
The antique quadruple silverplate lidded creamer pitcher, on the exterior, is in near mint condition. No dings, dents or silverplate wear or loss noted. The inside does have very minor surface pitting. The handle of this creamer pitcher has a floral rosette where the final rests when the lid is opened. The antique quadruple silver plate lidded creamer pitcher measures 6.5" from the tip of the spout to the tip of the handle, stands 5.25" tall, measures approximately 5" in diameter and weighs 1 pound, 1.8 ounces.
The antique quadruple silverplate open creamer pitcher is in absolutely pristine condition - inside and out! No dings, dents or damage to the silverplate noted except for a tiny spot on the top of the handle. Exceptionally clean and bright on the inside. This antique silver plate open cream pitcher measures 6.25" from the tip of the creamer pitcher spout to the tip of the handle, stands 3.5" tall, measures approximately 4.5" in diameter and weighs 13.6 ounces.
The antique quadruple silverplate two-handled spooner bowl is also in very good condition, with only a small amount of silverplate wear noted to the outside of both of the handles and within the cartouche, no dings or dents noted. The inside of the spooner, though, does show that it was used as intended (to hold spoons) as the inside bottom is "textured" - not what we'd consider "pitted" - just worn. This antique quadruple silver plate two-handle spooner bowl measures 7.5" between the handles, stands 3.5" tall, measures approximately 4.5" in diameter and weighs 13.9 ounces.
The final item of this antique Derby quadruple silverplate tea set is the large waste bowl, which is in excellent condition with no dings or dents to the body, no silverplate wear or loss noted on the outside. The inside is exceptionally clean with only a tiny area of discoloration noted in the base. The rim of the bowl does have a small area which is distorted and a bit rough around the edge. This large antique quadruple silver plate waste bowl measures approximately 6" in diameter, stands 3.5" tall and weighs 15.1 ounces.
