Custom-made large antique silverplate cocktail serving tray by Weidlich Bros. featuring 16 different recipes for well-known cocktail drinks, a floral and scroll border and an engraved centerpiece scene featuring two elegantly dressed men sitting in upholstered chairs in a wood-paneled drawing room, smoking and drinking, with a roaring fire in the fireplace and silver candlesticks on the mantle, a waiter serving a large silver platter of steaming food. Along the bottom of this centerpiece scene is "FOND - RECOLLECTIONS".
The Weidlich Bros. Mfg. Co. was located in Bridgeport, Connecticut and founded in 1901. Weidlich specialized in sterling silver and silver plated trophies. Weidlich went into voluntary dissolution in 1950.
The following instructional cocktail recipes are listed:
Pink Lady, Tom Collins; Side Car, Clover Club. Manhattan, Bacardi. Casino. Martini. Million Dollar, Rock and Rye, Bloodhound, Bronx, Leap Frog, Atta Boy, Highballs and the Orange Blossom
If you're seeking an unusual, even an antique, bar or cocktail serving tray for yourself, or your special bartender, then this is the (perhaps) one-of-a-kind antique silver gift for you! We've NEVER seen a tray like this before!
The tray is in VERY good condition, with only a few surface scratches on the front from use (does not reveal the base metal), no dents, no dings and only a bit of discoloration on the back, with the majority of the silverplate wear on the bottom. The front of this silver serving tray has two tiny spots of discoloration that are barely noticeable.
This large antique silverplate cocktail drink serving tray measures 14" in diameter, stands 1" tall and weighs 2 pounds, 12.6 ounces. Touchmarked on the back of the tray with the WB within a shield, a dog logo and the words TRADE MARK, the stock number 2366 and the copyright of 1932. This is a very unusual mark for Weidlich.
