Collectible vintage bone china LIMITED EDITION BLUE JAY bird thimble by Franklin Porcelain, The Garden Birds Collection by Peter Barrett features the Yellowthroat bird on the front of the thimble, three hand-painted 24-carat gold bands and the Latin name (Cyanocitta cristata) in script on the back, also in 24 carat gold.  This is one of the original collection of 25 thimbles issued by Franklin Porcelain only in 1979.

Blue jays are native to the Nearctic region. They are common in southern Canada and in the United States, east of the Rocky Mountains.  Blue jays prefer mixed woodlands, particularly those with clearings. They are also common in suburban areas and city parks. Blue jays form long-lasting, monogamous pair bonds. These bonds usually last until one of the pair dies.

This now discontinued and collectible vintage porcelain thimble is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage.  Marked on the inside of the thimble with FRANKLIN PORCELAIN, the Ben Franklin profile logo, LIMITED EDITION, FINE BONE CHINA and the artist's signature, Peter Barrett.    Measures 1.25" tall and 3/4" wide.

Would make an excellent addition to your china bird thimble collection, as a gift for a thimble collector or even as a starting thimble for your own collection!
