Vintage SPODE fine bone china floral sewing thimble, BUTTERCUP, from the Thimble Collectors Club 1986 with the original product card. The Flower of the Year has been created exclusively for the Thimble Collectors Club by the world famous Spode porcelain house.
Each year, Spode selects a different flower to portray on an exquisite bone china thimble, topped with a delightful gold flower motif. This is 1986's flower, the BUTTERCUP, which brings a splash of yellow to many a British meadow.
Spode's heritage dates back to 1776, making it one of England's oldest china makers. Spode's founder, Josiah Spode, was responsible for perfecting the process of adding bone ash to china clay to produce English bone china. For strength, whiteness and translucence, bone china is unsurpassed, and Spode still uses the original formula to produce their finely decorated china.
This fine collectible Spode china floral BUTTERCUP thimble is in excellent condition and measures 1" x 7/8". Marked on the inside with SPODE FINE BONE CHINA ENGLAND.
