A most unusual pair of silverplate figural PHEASANT Salt & Pepper Shakers by F.B. Rogers Silver Co. in that these very detailed figural pheasants appear to have been gold gilded. Picture these graceful figural pheasants adorning your Thanksgiving Day table!
Each of these silverplate pheasants are in good condition, with only a minimal amount of silverplate and gilding wear noted. One of the birds does have a tiny, pin head fissure on the top, but it does not go all the way through.
The heads of these silverplate pheasants unscrews, and each is perforated to be used as a salt and a pepper shaker respectively, however, since there is no way to ensure that corrosive salt can be completely removed from the body of the pheasant, we would suggest that they be used for decorative purposes only.
Each gilded silverplate figural pheasant measures approximately 7" from tip of tail to tip of the beak, each stands 4.75" tall and each weighs 7.3 ounces - 14.3 ounces for the pair! Touchmarked on the base with FB ROGERS SILVER CO., TAUNTON, MASS and the pattern number 46. You can read more about the history of FB Rogers from our Silver Manufacturers pages.
