Stunning cloisonne dragon thimble in Chinese red featuring a colorful dragon - made in Thailand. The basic enamel color on the thimble is a bright Chinese Red on a gold colored brass thimble. This is a non-repeating full wrap pattern. There is a gold brass top and bottom rim with a Greek key design on this thimble.
Cloisonne is a unique art form that originated in Beijing during the Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368). In the period titled 'Jingtai' during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644), the emperor who was very much interested in bronze-casting techniques, improved the color process, and created the Chinese red colors that appealed to the Oriental aesthetic sense. In China, red is the color of good luck and is used as a holiday and wedding color.
