Stunning cloisonne dragon thimble in white featuring a colorful dragon - made in Thailand. The basic enamel color on the thimble is a deep hunter green on a gold colored brass thimble. This is a non-repeating full wrap pattern. There is a gold brass top and bottom rim with a Greek key design on this thimble.
Cloisonne is a unique art form that originated in Beijing during the Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368). In the period titled 'Jingtai' during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644), the emperor who was very much interested in bronze-casting techniques, improved the color process, and created the colors that appealed to the Oriental aesthetic sense.
White is associated with the Gold Element and is used to represent mourning. White is considered to be the opposite of red, and is used to express sorrow and grief. With this white cloisonne thimble, grief and sorrow are appropriate expressions - the result of pricking one's finger with a needle!
