Exotic near mint condition figural Egyptian Revival footed teapot with detailed pheasant bird finial in quadruple silverplate by Meriden B. Company Silver.
This outstanding footed teapot features four detailed Egyptian feet, six figural Egyptian heads along the top decorative border and one Egyptian head on the handle, finished in a high polished silver, with a detailed figural pheasant bird finial.
The inside of this silver tea pot has just the touch of discoloration from use, but the outside is in near mint condition, with only age related use and polishing marks noted. Never replated, this antique quadruple silverplate is in its original condition. Hand engraved wheat design graces both the front and the back sides of this teapot.
The lid also has a hand tooled engraved design of a flower and leaf motif and in extremely good condition, with only a slight mis-shape, but no silverplate wear or loss. The figural pheasant finial is very detailed and has a slight bend to the neck which is loose.
The Egyptian Revival period flourished during the period 1820-1850, and was used primarily for memorials, cemeteries, and prisons. Egyptian Revival made a comeback during the 1920's with the Art Deco style and the fascination with the discovery of King Tutankhamen's tomb in 1922.
Measuring a huge 9.5" high, this antique quadruple silverplate footed teapot is 10.5" between the handle and the teapot spout tip, is approximately 6.25" in diameter and weighs 2 pounds, 0 ounces.
