Victorian silver (aluminum) embossed floral crumber crumb pan with detailed flowers splayed across the top edge of the crumber.
Some people erroneously refer to this as a dust pan, but it is in fact, a crumber or crumb pan. Some sets came with a brush to brush the crumbs from the tablecloth. During the 19th century, a growing emphasis on table manners emerged, most evident in the widespread publication of etiquette books and a sudden profusion of tablewares. One of the new utensils in genteel households was the crumber, which was used to remove crumbs and other small bits of food from the tablecloth between courses.
One corner is slightly bent, and there is minor crimping along the back top edge of the crumber. Being aluminum, these minor age and use related bends should very easily be able to be returned to their original shape. A few surface discolorations are noted due to age and use.
This silver colored aluminum crumber (or crumb pan) measures 7.75" x 5.5" and is unmarked as to maker.
